$504.75 million. That is what the Associated Press reported on June 10, 2026 as the value of Patrick Mahomes’ reworked Kansas City Chiefs contract, now running through 2033. It averages $63.1 million a year, and incentives and escalators could take it to $522.25 million. Over The Cap counts it at $64 million a year, the highest average in the NFL.

His net worth is a smaller number than that contract, for the simple reason that most of the contract has not been paid. Celebrity Net Worth estimates it at $160 million, on a page last updated August 31, 2026. Here is what is documented.

The contracts

Mahomes has signed two record-setting deals with the Chiefs.

  • July 2020: a 10-year extension. The AP reported it at $450 million; Forbes describes it as “worth up to $503 million” including incentives.
  • June 2026: the rework through 2033, at $504.75 million by AP’s count. Chairman Clark Hunt called him “a generational talent and an elite human being.”

The guarantee is unusually small. Over The Cap lists $95.55 million guaranteed, 21.3% of the $448 million it counts as the contract’s value. That is the lowest share among the 14 quarterbacks paid $40 million or more a year; the typical share is about half, as our quarterback contract rankings show. In practice it means most of the money depends on Kansas City keeping him on the roster, which for Mahomes has never been in doubt.

What he has earned so far

Over The Cap’s career earnings table puts Mahomes at $231.9 million, all of it from the Chiefs. That is 16th in NFL history and eighth among active players. Matthew Stafford leads all players at $408.0 million. Mahomes is behind several quarterbacks with fewer titles but longer careers or earlier big deals, including Kirk Cousins ($331.5 million), Dak Prescott ($295.4 million) and Jared Goff ($259.6 million). Adjusted for the salary cap’s growth, Over The Cap puts Mahomes at $308.6 million. Our NFL career earnings leaders page has the full list.

What he earns in 2026

Forbes’ 2026 list of the highest-paid NFL players, dated September 13, 2026 on his Forbes profile, puts his earnings at $86.8 million, salary and endorsements combined. Forbes notes that he has far more endorsement deals than most NFL players can count on, but does not publish the split in the profile.

Beyond football

Forbes lists minority stakes in four teams:

TeamLeague
Kansas City RoyalsMLB
Sporting Kansas CityMLS
Kansas City CurrentNWSL
Alpine F1 TeamFormula 1

The sizes of those stakes have not been disclosed, so we do not value them. Mahomes is part of a broader pattern of athletes buying into teams while still playing, covered in our list of athletes who own sports teams.

What $160 million means

A $160 million estimate against $231.9 million of career earnings is consistent with what a paycheck becomes after federal and state income tax, agents’ fees and living costs. Celebrity Net Worth’s figure is one outlet’s estimate; no public filing confirms it. What is not an estimate is the contract schedule: the AP’s reported $504.75 million runs through 2033.

The bottom line

Mahomes’ fortune is still mostly in the future. He has earned $231.9 million, he is paid more per year than anyone in the sport, and he owns pieces of four teams. With only 21.3% of his contract guaranteed, the rest of that fortune depends on the simplest thing in football: staying on the roster until 2033.
